HOOPER — A 17-year-old boy who went missing near a dam at the Ogden Bay Waterfowl Management Area was found dead Sunday night.

Three 17-year-olds, a girl and two boys, were swimming in the area Sunday afternoon when one of the boys disappeared under the water near the dam, said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Colby Ryan. The other boy jumped in to help him, but became stuck at the dam and couldn't get out.

The girl managed to get out of the water and called 911 around 4:30 p.m., Ryan said.

Deputies arrived and were able to pull the second boy out of the water before he was pulled through the dam, but the other boy remained missing.

The sheriff's office confirmed Monday that rescuers recovered the body of the missing boy around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

More information was not immediately available.
