PAGE, Arizona — A fire that damaged several houseboats at Wahweap Marina on June 2 was determined to be accidental, according to the National Park Service.

The National Park Service's structural fire investigators announced Friday the source of the fire was "undetermined and accidental in nature."

NPS officials had asked the public for help in the investigation earlier this week by submitting photos and videos that were taken during the fire. The submissions aided in the investigation's conclusion and the affected areas are open again, NPS officials said.

The fire was reported about 1:23 p.m. as a single houseboat on fire at the Wahweap Marina on Lake Powell near the Utah-Arizona state line. Flames quickly spread to half a dozen other houseboats and lasted for at least an hour and a half before the fire was extinguished.
