MONTANA — It really is remarkable how quickly we forget things. For example, you've probably opened a cabinet door, leaned down to get something, then stood up and smacked your head on the door you had just opened only moments earlier.
So it's no wonder that when you add in the element of darkness, one can easily forget about the hazards in their path.
I think injuries like this are often more shocking than they are painful. You're lying there on the ground after the impact, wondering who it was that hit you with a baseball bat. Then you see the lumber protruding from the truck above you and it all begins to make sense.
The guy was "in the middle of re-roofing my shed" and had supplies in his truck, according to the video caption. "My brother had decided to scoot it further from the door to avoid having anyone hit it, but as luck would have it, I'm the only one who did."
He goes on to say "the hit looks way worse than it was," as it ended up being a laughable memory.
I have to say, his reaction is incredible. Rather than rolling around on the ground in misery, he shakes off the pain and laughs at how ridiculous it must have looked. I hope I can have that kind of perspective the next time I take an unexpected hit to the head.
