ERDA, Tooele County — One person was critically injured in a crash that closed lanes on state Route 179 for several hours Thursday morning.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden said a semitruck was turning left from Parachute Lane onto westbound state Route 179 when it was struck by a passenger car. The driver was critically injured and a medical helicopter was called.

The collision blocked all eastbound lanes, and due to the driver's condition, investigators closed the scene for an investigation and cleanup, Roden said. The road was fully reopened by 11:30 a.m., he said.

Troopers did not identify the driver of the passenger car.
