ICE CREAM PARLOR — Few things may be as delightful as a cake that already has the ice cream in it. You seem to get less melting and, maybe it's my imagination, but the flavors of all the elements seem to meld better overall than with the traditional cake-with-ice-cream-on-the-side.

Some of my most memorable birthday parties growing up had a Dairy Queen mint chocolate chip ice cream cake. Just thinking about the chocolate cookie crust with ice cream and cake and chocolate syrup makes me want to celebrate an unbirthday. They were also quite beautiful to look at.

Have you ever wondered how they actually make ice cream cake, or attempted one yourself?

This video of a guy making an ice cream cake makes it look simpler than one would think.

First, he uses an industrial-looking blade machine to cut the top of the ice cream container, and then uses a wire to slice off the top of the ice cream evenly. He then adds a layer of white cake on top and cuts the edges of the ice cream and cake into a rectangle. He notes he frosts the cake in vanilla soft serve ice cream, which "let me tell you, does not spread like nice, white fluffy frosting."

He colors the soft serve ice cream blue and red and smoothes it over the cake. He then adds Fruity Pebbles cereal to the side and the top and borders the cake with dark blue frosting.

After those few steps are done, he displays his creation: A delicious-looking Super-Man-themed ice cream cake.
