MURRAY — Intermountain Healthcare is now officially Intermountain Health, after the company formally embraced its new branding at a company meeting on Monday at Intermountain Medical Center.

The new name and brand come with an emphasis on keeping people healthy and providing "world-class medical care," a statement said. It also follows Intermountain's merger with Colorado's SCL Health that was announced last year.

"The name change and updated logo are just a small part of an overall commitment to an increased emphasis on whole-health focused initiatives, and to be a partner in health, while staying true to Intermountain Health's rich foundation of providing extraordinary care for the communities it serves," the organization said.

Rob Allen, president and CEO at Intermountain Health, told his employees that a brand is more than a logo and name — it represents who the company is, its legacy and who they aspire to be.

When developing the new logo, Allen said they spoke to many health providers and patients and learned people are looking for a partner in their health journey and a trusted voice who can give them information when they need it.

"I love what we stand for, and I love how we care for those who count on us," Allen said.

Allen encouraged employees to serve and keep doing great things so they can help bring the Intermountain Health brand to life and work toward their goal of helping people live the healthiest lives possible.

"I have full confidence that together we can continue to make a great difference — every individual interaction at a time and on a broad scale in every community and every area and region where we serve. We can make a difference," Allen said.

The statement from Intermountain Health said the name change is immediate, but the new look will be gradually phased in over several years. Websites and digital tools can be expected to change more quickly.

The new logo is already present on the company website's homepage, though the organization anticipates it taking years for the new brand to reach all of its offices, clinics and documentation.

Intermountain Health is headquartered in Utah but spreads across seven states with 33 hospitals and 385 clinics.

With SCL, Intermountain companies employ more than 59,000 people and operate 33 hospitals and 385 clinics across seven states, including Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Kansas. The organization also insures 1 million people in Utah and Idaho. The merger made Intermountain Health the 11th-largest nonprofit health care system in the country.
