BRAZIL — It's a well-known fact that sliding doors and gates can be a total pain. In the best of times, they're often rickety and unreliable. At their worst, they stick like molasses. And if you put extra force into closing them, they'll grind and screech like some sort of tortured banshee.
Actually, I take that back. Grinding and screeching is annoying, but it's definitely not the worst a gate can do. When a gate truly goes bad and wants to make your life miserable — it will simply try to smash you.
While it's alarming to see the poor guy get attacked by his gate, I should point out that he wasn't seriously injured. Thanks to quick reflexes and a super helpful family, he was able to escape.
"This video was recorded through my security system at home, as soon as I arrived from my work," explains the video's caption. "Right after opening the gate, it was not wanting to close, I pulled very hard and it derailed and fell on top of me. But in the end, nothing serious happened, just a shoulder extension and some abrasions."
I sincerely hope this guy's shoulder is feeling better. I also hope he was able to replace this gate with a safer option that won't lash out at him next time he gets home from work.
