CAPREOL, Ontario — Caring for a newborn baby isn't for the faint of heart. There are all kinds of things to be handled, including feeding, napping, swaddling, soothing and bathing, among others.
The diaper situation alone will push you to the brink. Did you know that newborn babies can go through more than a dozen diapers a day? And a few of those diapers might very well be blowouts.
I only wish I'd had a trained diaper dog to help me get through those difficult times. Check out what this Lucy can do.
As you would imagine, this caliber of performance requires careful training. If all dogs were able to help new parents this well, hospitals would probably send all new parents home with a beagle.
"Shortly after my twin newborn girls arrived at home, I began teaching and recording my dog (Lucy) to aid me in regular duties associated with them," explains the video's creator in the caption. "I didn't expect much, but my first video went viral, and my next few amassed hundreds of thousands of views on TikTok as well."
He shouldn't be surprised by how many people watched the videos. The viewers were probably all ultra-tired parents of newborns, who scanned the videos for insights into how they could also train their dog, cat or parrot to perform these incredible tasks.
