LONDON — Do you remember that montage from "Ocean's 11" where they talk about legendary casino crimes from the past? The clip shows three different robbers who were successful in getting their hands on loot but never made it far before being taken down by authorities.
I couldn't help thinking of that when I saw this surveillance video out of England. The only thing that was missing was "Take My Breath Away" playing in the background.
The video starts out with a fellow walking into a salon. He puts his hands in his pockets and looks around in a way that screams, "You're about to be robbed."
As he makes his way over to where the money is kept, two of the workers run out to fetch help. The bandit, who clearly believed he could smash and grab, then finishes his dastardly deeds and heads for the door … and right into the waiting arms of East London's finest bobby.
I'm sure this was a scary experience for everyone involved. Thankfully, it ended without injury because the local police seemed to already be heading into the shop to get their eyebrows done. Talk about serendipity.
