SALT LAKE CITY — A West Jordan man who pleaded guilty to multiple armed robberies was sentenced on Friday to a year in jail and four years of probation.
A plea deal for David Converse Harris, 34, dismissed all but the most severe charge in five separate robbery cases against him, and for three of the cases the deal also lowered the severity of the top charge by one level. He pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and three counts of robbery, two reduced to a second-degree felony and one reduced to a third-degree felony.
Third District Judge Todd Shaughnessy suspended prison terms as long as Harris successfully completes jail and probation.
Harris was charged with multiple robberies in Salt Lake County during March at a Maverick, Boost Mobile, T-Mobile, Smith's grocery store and True Value Hardware.
After the final incident on March 16 at True Value Hardware, police who were in the area, saw Harris leaving and were successful in spiking the tires on his car. Officers recovered a "black realistic BB gun that was constructed of metal and was a facsimile of a Glock handgun."
The judge gave Harris credit for the time he has been in jail since Nov. 18, when he pleaded guilty.
