SALT LAKE CITY — Check back for the latest scores from all the Week 5 high school football games across the state.
KSL.com Game of the Week: Lehi at Corner Canyon
Why did we choose this game?
There were many games we thought about covering this week, but there's no reason to ignore the biggest one of them all as No. 2 Lehi travels to Draper to take on No. 3 Corner Canyon. While both of these teams will continue to be at the top of their respective classifications after this game, this is for bragging rights and state supremacy.
Lehi won the 5A state championship last season and has done a great job thus far at being the team to beat in 2022. The Pioneers have scored no fewer than 42 points in each of their last four games this season and have only allowed 7 points this season. Lehi can score big and limit teams significantly — though it must be pointed out their competition hasn't been all that tough.
Still, it's never a wise move to sleep on the Pioneers.
A year removed from the first season in four years where Corner Canyon did not win the 6A state title, the Chargers are looking to get back. While a win over Lehi will do little to win a 6A title, it's a good test to prove themselves against a tough team. Corner Canyon suffered a devastating blowout loss to Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, but the Chargers have had little competition outside of that.
Other games we'll be watching:
- Thursday: Emotional start, pair of pick 6's propel Payson to stunning win at Timpanogos
- Bonneville comes alive in second half to upset Viewmont 24-21
- Called up: Backup QB, Pick 6 help top-ranked Skyridge hold off Timpview 20-13
- Logan spoils Sky View homecoming, beats Bobcats for first time since 2013
