CEDAR CITY — Bracken Saunders poured in 28 points including three 3-pointers, and fellow senior Jake Hansen added 23 as Morgan jumped out to a 36-24 halftime lead and never looked back in a 64-51 win over American Heritage to clinch the Trojans' second straight 3A championship Saturday at Southern Utah University.

Saunders shot 73.3% from the field in Saturday's final as Morgan capped a run with wins in 17 of its last 18 games since Dec. 20.

The lone loss? A 64-60 loss to the Patriots in the Region 12 road finale Feb. 4.

"This was a goal we've had for three years," Morgan coach Scott Hunt said. "The senior bunch we had started as sophomores and they were on a two year mission for two straight championships. It's hard to do. American Heritage was a really tough opponent. This means the world, and it's something [these kids] will never forget for the rest of their lives."

Jackson Black led American Heritage (19-8) with 12 points and four steals, and Josue Kajinga added 11 points and five rebounds for the well-round Patriots.
