UTAH STATE PRISON — A former Public Enemy No. 1 currently charged with aggravated murder is now accused of having a shiv while in prison.
Terence Trent Vos, 32, of Salt Lake City, was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person. The charge also comes with a habitual offender enhancement, making it a first-degree felony.
On March 27, while searching Vos at the Utah State Prison, corrections officers found a 6-inch piece of metal "that was sharpened to a bladed point" hidden in his underwear, according to charging documents.
Vos is already facing charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, possession of a weapon by a restricted person, and three counts of discharge of a firearm, all first-degree felonies, for the May 1, 2021, shooting death of Shandon Nicole Scott, 32.
An autopsy found Scott had been shot 12 times before Vos crashed the car the couple was in on I-80.
Vos is a former Public Enemy No. 1 of the Salt Lake Metro Gang Unit. He has been arrested in the past in connection with several shootings in Salt Lake City, and was twice convicted of discharging a gun from the freeway in 2006. He was on parole at the time of Scott's death.
A preliminary hearing in the murder case is scheduled to begin May 17.
