WASHINGTON, Washington County — A man is dead after a crash between two vehicles on Thursday morning in Washington County.
Just before 9 a.m, a Mercury Mountaineer was attempting a left-hand turn from Silver Falls Drive to go south on Washington Fields Road. Simultaneously, a Ford pickup traveling north entered the intersection at Silver Falls Drive and crashed into the driver's side door of the Mercury, the Washington Police Department said.
"At this time, it appears the driver of the Mercury did not see the Ford approaching as he continued to make the left turn," Washington Police Lt. Joshua Finona said in a statement.
The driver of the Ford is said to be cooperating with police, and the investigation is ongoing.
North and southbound traffic between 2000 South and Lost Ridge Road was closed for a time after the crash, but has since reopened.
The deceased man's name was not immediately released, but police said he is a resident of Washington.
"The Washington Police Department sends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victim of this traffic accident," the department said.
