MAGNA — A 2-year-old girl remained hospitalized in extremely critical condition Monday following a long fall through the screen of her bedroom window over the weekend.

About 3:40 p.m. Sunday, a girl who turns 3 next month was at home near 2600 South and 7300 West and was standing on top of her dresser, which was located underneath a window, when she either pushed or leaned against the screen and fell onto the driveway below, said Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler.

The girl fell three stories, Cutler said. A neighbor saw the girl lying on the driveway and was the first to alert the parents that something had happened. It was unknown how long the girl had been on the ground before she was discovered.

The girl was not conscious when emergency crews arrived. She was taken by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital.
