EAGLE MOUNTAIN — The man killed Friday after being hit by a 14-year-old riding a dirt bike in Eagle Mountain has been identified as Caelan Lewis.

Lewis, 19, was from Eagle Mountain and family said he had returned from training as a U.S. Marine just before Christmas.

The family issued the following statement:

"Caelan was a very kind and generous young man that put the welfare of others first before himself. We are devastated at his loss and the knowledge that his little sister will be growing up without her older brother. He would forgive people whole-heartedly and defend others vigorously. He loved sword fighting, martial arts, and ballroom dancing. He enjoyed reading and gaming with his friends. Caelan joined the U.S. Marine Corps during Spring Break of his senior year at Cedar Valley High School as a reservist. He left for training in July and returned home just a few days before Christmas. He planned to work for a year to save some money then put in his papers to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He leaves in his wake a gaping hole in the hearts of family and friends."
