NEPHI — A 60-year-old Nephi man now faces 12 felony criminal charges accusing him of inappropriate sexual relations with a teen employee.

Randy Lawrence Goode was charged Monday in 4th District Court with three counts of rape, attempted rape, and object rape, first-degree felonies; six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; and dealing in harmful materials to a minor, a third-degree felony.

Between Oct. 1 and March 4, while a 16-year-old girl worked for Goode, he had sex with the girl on several occasions both at his place of business and in his car, according to charging documents.

"Because the victim was younger than 18 years old and because (Goode) held a position of special trust as her boss, the victim could not legally consent to sexual activity," prosecutors noted in the charging documents.

Goode also sent explicit pictures of himself to the girl, the charges allege. At one point after the girl's parents discovered one of the photos and confronted Goode, he asked them not to tell anyone because "it would ruin everything and he knew he had messed up," a police booking affidavit states.

But Goode and the girl still contacted each other.

"It is apparent Randy is still willing to have contact with the victim even after being confronted by her parents and knowing her age," police wrote in the affidavit.
