ALTA — A 14-year-old boy died Sunday after colliding with another skier at Alta ski resort.

The boy was in the Sugarloaf area of the Alta Ski Area just before 10 a.m. when the collision occurred, according to a statement released Monday from the Alta Marshal's Office. The boy, who was unconscious when emergency personnel reached him, was flown to Primary Children's Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The boy's name has not yet been released.

The investigation into the incident was continuing Monday, according to the marshal's office.

"We extend our sincere condolences to those affected by this tragic event and our thanks to those who responded," the office said.
