SALT LAKE CITY — A Weber County man accused of robbing Utah banks with Band-Aids on his fingers was arrested in California after allegedly cutting his ankle monitor and skipping town. Police believe he also robbed another bank while on the lam.
Cody Jensen, 32, of West Haven, evaded police for three weeks before he was arrested Wednesday in Los Angeles, according to a news release from the FBI field office in Salt Lake City. Jensen appeared in a Los Angeles federal court Thursday, and he will be transferred to Utah to face charges.
In August, Jensen was indicted by a grand jury on seven counts of bank robbery in Utah's federal court. He's accused of robbing banks and credit unions in Salt Lake City, South Jordan, West Jordan, Lehi and Kaysville from December 2019 through August 2020.
The FBI believe Jensen is the "Band-Aid Bandit," a name given him during the initial investigation, as investigators found the suspect wore bandages over his fingers during the robberies.
During his time on the run, authorities in Nevada allege Jensen robbed a bank in Henderson, according to a new indictment in Nevada's U.S. District Court.
The same indictment, filed Wednesday, alleges Jensen robbed banks in Henderson and North Las Vegas in September and November 2020, respectively. In total, the Nevada indictment lists three counts of bank robbery filed against Jensen.
It was not immediately clear when Jensen will be transferred to Utah. Online court records did not list a new hearing date for Jensen to appear in Salt Lake City's federal court.
