WEST JORDAN — A Kearns man was killed Saturday evening after crashing and being ejected from his vehicle.
Leoncio Romero-Gonzales, 29, was northbound on the Mountain View Corridor, near 7800 South, at about 11:30 p.m., when he lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason, hit the median and flipped, West Jordan police officer Sam Winkler said.
Romero-Gonzales was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to Winkler.
Despite life-saving measures being performed, he died of his injuries at the scene.
"We can't emphasize seat belts enough," Winkler said. "You have a far better chance of surviving a crash if you can stay inside the vehicle rather than being thrown out."
Police are investigating speed, alcohol and drug use as possible factors, according to Winkler.
