SALT LAKE CITY — Police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting two teenage girls who were intoxicated to the point of passing out.
Luis Alberto Chalas-Rambalde, 27, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Monday for investigation of two counts of rape, object rape, forcible sodomy and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Two girls, ages 15 and 17, told police they were at an apartment in Salt Lake City where Chalas-Rambalde and a second person served them alcohol, according to a police booking affidavit.
"Both females informed officers that they were extremely intoxicated," the affidavit states. The 15-year-old girl told police "she had become unconscious" and woke up to find the second male assaulting her. She said she then passed out again and awoke to Chalas-Rambalde allegedly sexually assaulting her.
Likewise, the 17-year-old girl told police "she has no recollection of the events, that she became unconscious" but awoke to feeling pain. Both girls went to a local hospital after leaving the apartment.
Police say they have identified the second male involved and that the investigation into the case is ongoing.
