SALT LAKE CITY — A shuttle bus company with operations across the Intermountain West is expanding operations within Utah.

Salt Lake Express representatives said Tuesday that service to Blanding, Heber City, Moab, Price and Vernal are among new additions to the shuttle service's network beginning this month, extending its service farther east in the state.

The company already had service places across the Wasatch Front, the Cache Valley and communities along I-15 and I-80 in the state, such as Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake City, Tooele, Provo, Cedar City and St. George.

The new route to and from Vernal will include stops in Roosevelt, Duchesne, Heber City and Park City in addition to downtown Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake City International Airport. The route to and from Blanding includes Monticello, Moab, Green River, Price, Spanish Fork, downtown Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake City International Airport. The company states that service on those routes runs twice per day every day of the year.

Officials with the company assert that the new service additions provide connections between the Wasatch Front and rural communities in eastern, central and southeastern Utah that haven't existed before. It provides those seeking to head to those communities with new opportunities that weren't available through Greyhound or similar shuttle operations.

"There is so much that these places have to offer. They often get overlooked but they are filled with rich history, culture and things to do and see," said Salt Lake Express owner Jacob Price, in a statement Tuesday. "We are hoping to serve the local communities as well as tourists looking for access to these recreational destinations."

The company adds that it also provides residents in the new service areas opportunities to travel to vital health care services on the Wasatch Front, or to places like the Salt Lake City International Aiport or the Utah State Capitol.

Passengers along the two new Utah routes also have the ability to connect to other routes to different states in the region. In addition to Utah, the entire Salt Lake Express network includes dozens of stops in Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Wyoming. It also has one stop in Arizona between St. George and Las Vegas.
