WOODS CROSS — Police have arrested a Utah man who they say was posting videos of himself torturing animals.
Samuel Jonas Webster, 18, of Woods Cross, was booked into the Davis County Jail Thursday for investigation of five counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
The investigation began Wednesday after a man using the moniker "Dr. T" posted "at least 17 videos of him torturing and killing Guinea pigs" on YouTube, according to a police booking affidavit.
The graphic videos show Webster torturing the animals in various ways and also had disturbing titles, the affidavit states.
"Some of the videos clearly showed the pigs were deceased and were titled, 'Fatality,' 'I tried to make a puppet out of a Guinea pig,' … 'Shut up stupid domestic pig,' … 'Torture is addicting,' 'This is (expletive) hilarious,' 'LOL,'" according to the affidavit.
Police were notified of the videos and after tracing them to Webster, officers served a search warrant on his home.
"During the warrant, numerous items seen in the videos were seized as well as animal remains, weapons and blood spatter. The investigation revealed the Guinea pigs were purchased at Petco," the arrest report states, adding that no live animals were found while serving the search warrant.
Police say Webster had purchased at least four Guinea pigs and a mouse over the past two weeks.
