SALT LAKE CITY — The water has receded to a point at Yuba Lake to where visitors need to pay attention to what's called the "dark sand," according to officials at Yuba State Park.
Of particular concern are visitors driving large recreational vehicles too close to the water's edge.
"Just because it looks safe doesn't mean it is for your enormous trailer and truck to park right along the water's edge," park officials said in a Facebook post.
They say that a good way to know what sand to avoid in an RV at Yuba Lake is the color of the sand.
If you stay out of the dark sand, park officials said, you will be saved a wrecker fee of "thousands of dollars" to get unstuck.
They advise that those in recreational vehicles who wish to be close to the water's edge stay "a couple hundred yards back or more, depending on the size and weight of your rig."
