SPANISH FORK — A man's body was found in a Spanish Fork canal Wednesday afternoon, police said.

People using a trail that runs along a canal near Costco and the Deseret Meat Packing plant noticed the body and called police, according to Spanish Fork Lt. Brandon Anderson. Police said the man appears to be around 60 years old.

The death is under investigation, but Anderson said preliminary investigations point to a possible drowning.

The official cause of death will be determined by an autopsy by the state medical examiner's office.
