MAPLETON — Mapleton police have identified the 13-year-old boy who died after the go-kart he was driving collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Aspen Drive and Dogwood Drive as Bridger Robison.

At 3:56 p.m. Thursday, paramedics responded and found Bridger unconscious and not breathing in the roadway and began resuscitation efforts. The boy was transported to Utah Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead of injuries sustained in the crash, said Mapleton Police Lt. Phillip Bringhurst.

An investigation is underway with Utah Highway Patrol assisting in the accident reconstruction on Thursday. The driver of the vehicle was cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

In a statement, the Robison family remembered Bridger as "the light and life of the party with his red hair and blue sparkling eyes."

Bridger was to attend Mapleton Junior High in the fall as an eighth grader and enjoyed playing soccer with his Utah Storm club team. He also enjoyed pickleball and tennis, as well as playing the piano. Bridger's family said he looked forward to serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he turned 18 years old and that "his testimony showed in his countenance as he loved to serve others around him."

A GoFundMe* account has been set up as a memorial fund for Bridger.
