(KSL News) A West Valley City police officer pulled over the driver of a stolen vehicle this morning. When the officer called for back-up, the driver took off.
A high-speed chase began, and continued through several subdivisions in the area of 4100 South and 3200 West.
The officer finally cornered the driver, identified as Randy Wolf-Valarde. Police say he slammed the stolen car into patrol cars a number of times before he was finally caught.
Sgt. John Pierce, West Valley City Police Dept.: "He saw that he was going to be pinned in there, rammed a patrol car. When that patrol car stopped, the other patrol car was coming to block him in. He backed up and rammed that patrol car."
Velarde appears to have just gotten off of parole. Now he'll face a number of charges, including assault on a police officer, fleeing in a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.
The car he was driving was reported stolen in West Valley some time ago.
