SALT LAKE CITY — Police have arrested a juvenile after a man was shot and killed early Sunday in downtown Salt Lake City.

Englandsienna Pauulu, 22, was killed in the incident, Salt Lake police said Monday.

Tuesday, police said they had arrested a juvenile in the case, but they did not release an age or even the gender of the juvenile.

Officers heard gunshots around 1:30 a.m. near 125 W. 300 South and discovered Pauulu on the ground with gunshot wounds, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Steve Wooldridge. Pauulu received medical assistance at the scene but later died from his injuries.

Pauulu came in contact with three males, possibly at a club nearby, and a verbal confrontation ensued, Salt Lake Police Sgt. Keith Horrocks said Tuesday. One of the males, the teen who was later arrested, pulled out a gun and shot Pauulu, Horrocks said.

Investigators spoke with the other two males who were involved in the fight, but only arrested one juvenile, Horrocks said. Police also recovered the gun that was used in the shooting, he said.

Police don't yet know if Pauulu knew the three others before the fight.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 801-799-3000.
