SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's number of COVID-19 cases increased by 344 on Sunday, with 19,328 more vaccinations administered and no new deaths, according to the Utah Department of Health.

The rolling weekly average for positive COVID-19 tests is now at 396 cases per day, the health department says. The positive test rate per day as calculated by the "people over people" method is now 7.2%. The positive test rate per day as calculated by the "test over test" method is now 3.6%.

There are now 43 Utahns hospitalized with COVID-19, with 15,760 total hospitalizations since the beginning of the pandemic. However, this number is artificially low because the state has identified a reporting issue with one of their healthcare systems that impacts the Daily Hospitalization Survey data. The error is expected to be fixed by Monday.

A total of 1,703,065 vaccine doses have been administered in the state, up from 1,683,737 on Saturday. A total of 1,099,828 Utahns have now received at least one vaccine dose.

The numbers come two days after the expirations of the statewide mask mandate, though many private companies and public spaces will continue to mandate masks.
