BIG WATER, Kane County — One man is dead after a crash near Lake Powell on Thursday, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

The man was identified on Friday as Arizona resident Joshua Ashley, age 30.

The crash took place on U.S. Highway 89 about 18 miles west of Big Water in Kane County, according to a news release from the highway patrol.

A southbound Honda driven by Ashley lost control on a bend in the road, according to the news release. The Honda crossed the center line into the path of an oncoming Ford F-350 pickup. The Ford T-boned the Honda, the highway patrol said.

Ashley died at the scene, and there was no one else in his car, troopers said. Two individuals in the pickup were taken by ambulance to the hospital in fair and stable condition and were later released with only minor injuries, according to the release.

Alcohol impairment is suspected as a factor in the crash for the driver of the Honda, according to the highway patrol.
