SALT LAKE CITY — It's hard to believe that one year ago (feels like a lifetime ago), Rudy Gobert ended a Utah Jazz press conference by touching microphones in a joking manner, despite the rumblings of the novel coronavirus risk starting in the country.

On March 11, 2020, Gobert became the first professional athlete in the U.S. to test positive for COVID-19. The NBA quickly postponed the Jazz's game vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder and the rest of the season. For many, that night symbolized the beginning of the pandemic and the beginning of life as we knew it changing for a very long time.

In this episode of KSL.com's "The Know" podcast, Jazz beat reporters Ryan Miller of KSL.com Sports and Sarah Todd of the Deseret News join host Xoel Cardenas to talk about how this past year covering the Utah Jazz amid the COVID-19 pandemic has not only changed their job as journalists, but their lives as well.

Some of the topics Miller and Todd talked about include that fateful night in OKC, life as a beat reporter with no active beat, the NBA bubble, and the challenges of not being able to interact with players and coaches in a face-to-face manner.

Check out this clip as KSL.com Sports' Ryan Miller talks about the importance of the energy fans bring to games:
