SNOWVILLE, Box Elder County — A man died when the pickup truck he was driving rolled on a highway near the Idaho border early Sunday morning.

Darren Nicholas, 53, of Honeyville, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said Monday.

Utah Highway Patrol trooper responded to the wreck on state Route 30 about 12:54 a.m., the Utah Department of Public Safety said on Sunday. The crash occurred in far northern Box Elder County between Snowville and Cedar Creek.

Nicholas was driving a 2009 Ford F-150 when he lost control of the vehicle and it began to roll. He was ejected from the vehicle and thrown about 20 feet, troopers said.

"Troopers are investigating impairment as a possible contributing factor to the crash," officials wrote.

The crash remains under investigation.
