VINEYARD — A Lindon man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover accident in Vineyard Sunday afternoon.
According to the Utah County Sheriff's Office, 27-year-old McKay Guy Madsen died at the scene of a crash near the intersection of 400 East and 1600 North in Vineyard just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Investigators said evidence suggests Madsen, who was the sole occupant of a 2018 Jeep Cherokee traveling westbound on 1600 North, drifted to his left across the opposite travel lane, hit a curb and a large boulder then hit a berm that caused the Jeep to roll several times.
Police said excessive speed likely played a role in the accident. Debris from the vehicle and automotive fluids were spread over several hundred feet from where the vehicle was found after a witness reported the accident.
Police said they had no evidence to suggest impairment was a factor.
