WEST VALLEY CITY — Police are looking for a fugitive who they say led officers on a chase in West Valley City early Monday.

A West Valley police officer was parked at an apartment complex near 3301 S. 1250 West just before 1 a.m. when he recognized a vehicle in connection with a fraud investigation, according to West Valley Police Lt. Bill Merritt. The driver gave false information to the officer, who then asked the driver and male passenger to get out of the car. Instead, the driver backed up and drove away.

Police followed the car down 1300 West until one of its tires went flat and it crashed into a fence at 4100 South.

The passenger cooperated with police, but the driver ran away. Both are parole fugitives with felony warrants, Merritt said.

A Utah Highway Patrol helicopter and Taylorsville police helped search for the man who ran but did not find him. Merritt identified him as Patrick Oscar Holder, 26.

Police do not believe Holder poses a threat to the public.

Anyone with information should contact West Valley police.
