SALT LAKE CITY — A man charged earlier this year with possessing child pornography now faces additional charges of raping a neighbor girl in 2018.
Octavio Moreno, 21, of West Jordan, was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with rape of a child, sodomy on a child, and aggravated sexual abuse of a child, all first-degree felonies.
In 2018, Moreno sexually abused and raped a 7-year-old girl who lived in an apartment near his in Salt Lake City, according to charging documents.
Moreno is currently in the Salt Lake County Jail following his arrest in July stemming from an investigation by the FBI's Child Exploitation task force. He was charged in that case with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony. A hearing to determine whether a competency evaluation should be conducted for that case is scheduled for Nov. 16.
