SALT LAKE CITY — Two more Utah high schools are moving classes online for the next two weeks amid COVID-19 outbreaks: Roy High School and Cottonwood High School.
The changes, both announced Tuesday, go into effect immediately and in-person classes will likely resume on Wednesday, Oct. 28, officials said.
To give teachers time to adjust to an online schedule, Roy High School officials said Wednesday will be a teacher preparation day for the school.
More than 15 students have tested positive for the virus within the last two weeks at both schools. Anyone who has been exposed will be notified by the school about quarantine requirements, officials said. Anyone who tests positive must isolate themselves.
Last week, all 81 players on the Roy High School football team entered a precautionary quarantine due to high COVID-19 numbers.
School officials are working closely with the Weber-Morgan Health Department to monitor the situation. Cottonwood High School is working with the Salt Lake County Health Department.
