Neffs Fire mapped at 53 acres near Mount Olympus

The Type 3 helicopter completed a mapping mission this evening on the #NeffsFire. Estimated at 53 acres. An engine, and squad will be motioning the fire through the night. The fire may be visible but fire activity is expected to be minimal. Please don’t report smoke. #uwcnf pic.twitter.com/RLdBPs6bdh

Evacuations, closures lifted for 3 Creeks Fire in Beaver County, 30% contained

All closures and evacuations from the 3 Creeks Fire in Beaver County — including Big John Flat area and Eagle Point Ski Resort — had been lifted by 7:40 p.m., fire officials said.Thanks to rain in the area, fire progression was stopped. Firefighters have also extinguished hot spots and secured hand lines. By Tuesday evening, the blaze was 30% contained.

Fire in Neffs Canyon grows to 60 acres

By 4 p.m., fire officials said the fire burning in Neffs Canyon had grown from an estimated 20-acre blaze to an estimated 60 acres.

Multiple resources respond to Neffs Canyon Fire

Multiple resources responded to the Neffs Canyon Fire on Tuesday afternoon, including two helicopters and an estimated 80 firefighters.Two fire bosses, or “fixed wing aircraft with water platoons,” was also assigned to the blaze.

3 Creeks Fire in Beaver grows to 60 acres

The 3 Creeks Fire, which began burning Monday afternoon 10 miles east of Beaver, had grown to an estimated 60-acres by Tuesday, fire officials reported.As of Tuesday afternoon, it remained 0% contained.The fire, which was burning near state Route 153, was initially estimated to be 7-10 acres on Monday afternoon.The human-caused fire was ignited in a slash pile in a fuels treatment center that had not been able to be taken care of sooner because of COVID-19.

— Utah Fire Info (@UtahWildfire) September 22, 2020The fire forced evacuations of the Eagle Point Ski Resort and Big John Flat areas.No structures have been lost and landowners in the evacuated areas were allowed back in their homes starting at 2:30 p.m., fire officials said. As homeowners returned, fire officials urged drivers to use caution while going through the fire area.The blaze also forced a road closure from Big John Flat road to Puffer Lake.Overnight, crews were able to “establish a hose lay on the north end of the fire.” Firefighters were working to extinguish hit spots and continue securing the hose lay.Scattered rain and thunderstorms were expected later Tuesday, fire officials said.— Lauren Bennett, KSL.com

20-acre fire burns in Neffs Canyon near Mount Olympus

Unified fire officials are asking people to stay away from the Neffs Canyon Trailhead as crews fight a 20-acre fire burning near Mount Olympus Tuesday morning.Unified Fire Authority spokesman Patrick Costin said the agency began receiving calls around midnight of a possible fire up the canyon but did not engage until it became safe to do so during daylight hours.
