OGDEN — Two men allegedly involved in a drive-by shooting Friday were formally charged on Monday.
Daniel Antonio Madera, 23, of Clearfield, and Julio Cesar Romero Granados, 25, of Ogden, were each charged in 2nd District Court with possession of a weapon by a restricted person, a second-degree felony; and three counts of discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony.
Just after 1 a.m. Friday, Ogden police were called to a drive-by shooting and spotted the suspected gunman’s truck just minutes after the incident was reported, according to charging documents.
“Inside the truck several unspent .40-caliber cartridges were located on the truck floor boards. This truck was being driven by Daniel Madera and Julio Granados was a passenger,” the charges state.
At the scene of the shooting, police found “three bullet holes in two different vehicles,” according to the charges. “In a related drive-by shooting case, at a different location and after further searching the area of the traffic stop conducted on the suspects, a .40-caliber handgun was found discarded near the roadway, where officers initially spotted the suspect truck.”
Detectives also recovered cocaine and THC-laced candy, according to a police affidavit.
The charges also noted that the two men would be “charged with other crimes related to other drive-by shootings that occurred this same evening, firearm possession charges and drug charges.”
