MURRAY — Police are searching for a man who they say robbed the same bank in Murray in a single week.

The latest robbery occurred about 12:15 p.m. on Monday at Altabank’s Murray Branch, 5824 State Street.

Murray police said they believe the same man who robbed that bank also robbed the branch on Aug. 18.

Detectives said the alleged robber is a skinny white man with longer hair, is about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, and was last seen wearing a blue shirt, tan pants, sunglasses and a Boston Red Sox baseball hat.

The man’s hair was likely dyed brown recently, detectives added. He also wore the same style shoes as the man who allegedly robbed the bank on Aug. 18.

In both robberies, the man passed a note to a teller and demanded an undisclosed amount of money. A weapon was not seen in either incident, police said.

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man seen in security footage. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 801-840-4000 and reference cases 20C015064 and 20C015591.

Editor's note: A man was taken into custody in connection to both robberies, police said Wednesday.

Correction: An earlier version incorrectly reported police believed this man was involved in another Murray bank robbery at Zions Bank — the two incidents were investigated separately and police said the alleged robbers in both incidents were two different men.
