GREEN RIVER — A woman died and two other people were injured after a crash on I-70 in central Utah early Thursday morning, authorities said.
The crash took place around 1:30 a.m. about 20 miles west of Green River where I-70 cuts through the San Rafael Swell, according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Nick Street. A car was driving east on the freeway when the driver went off a curved portion of the road, he said.
The car went off the road and rolled, Street said. The woman was ejected from the car and suffered fatal injuries. She was identified Friday as 44-year-old Elizabeth M. Ross of El Cajon, California, according to the highway patrol. It appears she was not wearing a seat belt, according to Street.
Two other people were seriously injured and were transported to hospitals. One was taken to a hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, via a medical helicopter. The other was taken to a hospital in Price via an ambulance.
Further information about the crash, including the age and gender of the people involved, was not immediately available Thursday.
