(KSL News) The population of Lehi has grown by almost 7,000 people, at least in the eyes of the U.S. Census Bureau.

Yesterday, Lehi's city administration announced that new census numbers had been approved, raising the official estimate from just under 37,000 to more than 43,000. That is an adjustment of more than 20 percent.

Lehi officials started petitioning for the change after census numbers were released in July of last year. They tell the Provo Herald the change will affect the city's economy as the amount of sales tax going to Lehi will now increase.
