Press Release(Orem, UT - December 1, 2008) - The Utah Valley Home Builders Association (UVHBA) and many local member companies will make the holidays brighter for some Utah County families in the eleventh annual SubContractors for Santa program. Starting December 1st , crews made up of UVHBA members, will do safety and comfort repairs on over 30 Utah County homes, and donate more than $100,000 in time, materials and monetary donations.
Builder elves first performed safety and comfort repairs on 16 homes in 1998. Since that time, the UVHBA has worked to increase the number of individuals they serve in the community each year. This work includes everything from roof repair, plumbing, window replacement, ramps, weather stripping, doors, rain gutters, and many other necessary and safety items for elderly, disabled, and single-parent households during the Christmas season.
The UVHBA's Community Service committee, under the direction of Karl Kuhni, Kuhni Landscaping, LLC and UVHBA members generously donate valuable building skills to help individuals and families whose homes are in desperate need of safety and comfort repairs. The SubContractors for Santa program is an excellent opportunity for UVHBA members to utilize their building skills through service and to make a difference in the community.
All the materials and labor are given to the families at no cost to the homeowners. This annual project is a great success because of the willingness of over 50 local business owners and their employees to generously donate time, money, and materials necessary to do the repairs on these homes in Utah County.
