(KSL News) The Salt Lake City police and fire departments are cutting back next year.
Mayor Ralph Becker asked each agency to trim its budget to help the city cope with a fall in revenue. The police department could lose about $669,000. The fire department could lose about $103,000.
Both agencies say they will cope with the cuts by delaying the purchase of new equipment and keeping empty positions vacant.
