(KSL News) -- Utah could have a new source of electricity by 2008.
Officials broke ground for a hydroelectric power plant at the Jordanelle Dam today. The new facility will house two turbines with the capacity to generate six megawatts of electricity. That's enough to supply 8,000 homes annually.
Planners have wanted to use Jordanelle to generate power for several years, but only recently got envrionmental approval to start the project.
