POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) -- Jonathan Tavernari scored 23 points and had six rebounds as Brigham Young beat Idaho State 85-65 on Saturday night.
BYU (6-0) opened up a 10-point lead with 4:28 left in the first half and had leads of up to 18 points before ending the half up 40-28. In the second half, Idaho State came no closer than 11 points.
Also scoring in double figures for BYU were guards Jimmer Fredette with 19, Lee Cummard with 17, and Jackson Emery with 15. Fredette had a team-high six assists.
Idaho State (1-4) was led by senior Matt Stucki with 19 points. Forward Demetrius Monroe and center Lucas Steijn had 8 points apiece.
Donnie Carson and Felix Caspari each had five rebounds for Idaho State.
