We should all look that poised and confident in our high-heel shoes.
That's the basis for Stiletto fitness, a combination of toning and strengthening exercises designed to develop arches and calves, shape legs and improve posture. The classes also teach women how to correctly place their feet in shoes.
Whether walking in the office or out on the dance floor, you need support, said Donna Cyrus, who designed the classes for Crunch Fitness in New York early this year. Classes were set to open this week in Atlanta.
"People want to feel confident walking in high-heel shoes," she said. "It gives them a bit of a flair when they walk."
> WHAT IT IS: A series of dance-style movements designed to strengthen feet, thighs, knees, calves, ankles and other muscles. Also teaches you how to place your feet properly in heels, walk correctly and navigate different surfaces.
> WHERE TO DO IT: Classes are available at health clubs such as Crunch Fitness and sensuality shops such as Aphrodite's Toy Box, Decatur.
> OUR ADVICE: If you insist on wearing high heels, wear them properly. And that may take some practice and instruction, along with the calf muscles to support it.
