(KSL News) Hungry families in Utah are going to benefit from this week's big game between Utah and BYU.
Every year during rivalry week, the Utah Food Bank gets in on the fun by seeing which school donates the most cash or food.
"Competition is a huge factor in our food drive: high schools against high school, business competing against other businesses, or university versus university. It helps drum up business a little bit," said food bank executive director Jim Pugh.
Pugh says University of Utah fans typically collect the most cash and BYU fans bring in the most food.
The Food Bank will collect donations for either the Utes or the Cougars until the end of the month and then announce a winner.
Here at KSL, we've got Utah and BYU bins set up to donate food. In an unofficial count, donations for the Cougars are ahead. Our colleagues also showed their support by spending a couple hours sorting all the donated food today as well as donating over $2,100.
