With their leader, Warren Jeffs, behind bars. some of his followers may be thinking about leaving the polygamous group. But other polygamous communities may start seeing a mass exodus as well.
The Attorney General's office says it's getting more requests for help from people who want to flee the religion. At the same time a spokesperson tells the Deseret Morning News the faithful members are more entrenched than ever before, some of the fallout from the arrests of the man many regard as a prophet.
The arrest prompted a gathering of a so-called safety net committee, made up of law enforcement, social service groups and law enforcement. Other Polygamous groups say they're also reaching out.
