(KSL News) An accident on Bangerter Highway sent two people to the hospital in critical condition this evening.
Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies say a white passenger car was traveling southbound on Bangerter and went to make a left-hand turn onto 13400 South.
A white van approached the intersection as the car was turning, and the two vehicles collided. The van was knocked on its side and skidded 20 to 30 feet and smashed into a pole.
The male driver of the van was trapped for a time. When rescue crews got him out, they transported him to the hospital by medical helicopter in critical condition.
The driver of the passenger car was transported to the hospital by ambulance in critical condition.
Investigators say it does not appear the drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident. They say weather was not a factor either.
