LAYTON — A person was taken to the hospital in serious condition after a family fight led to a stabbing in Layton.

The stabbing took place about 9 p.m. Monday at a home near the intersection of Parkside Lane and West Granite Drive, according to police.

Two adult family members were fighting inside the home, but the fight made its way outside and one of the people involved was stabbed, police said.

Neighbors gave medical aid to the person until authorities arrived. The person was then flown in a medical helicopter to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden with life-threatening injuries, according to police. The person was taken into surgery, police added.

Police are calling the incident a domestic assault. As of Tuesday morning, there is no threat to the community, police said.

Police have not released any identifying information about the people involved and have not said what led up to the fight. No further information about the stabbing was immediately available.
